Happy New Year 2010!
My holiday blog plans were big. Starting with those yummy Brussel Sprouts that I made for Thanksgiving and then again for Christmas dinner. (my daughter can not get enough of them) Somehow the hustle and bustle of the holidays consumed me. I am sorry I was away so long, that was not planned. I did have quite an exciting holiday.
I went to New York City, did the food tour of Greenwich Village, visited a handful of wine & cheese cafes (lots of small bites with wine, my idea of savoring perfection), stopped in at a number of chocolate shops(chocolate is HOT, I do love chocolate), and was a guest in the studio audience at the Martha Stewart Show. I confess, I am a huge fan of Martha Stewart ever since I checked out her “Entertaining” cookbook from the public library in Wurzburg Germany. She has inspired, educated and introduced me to so many “good things.” Needless to say, Martha had a great show that day and introduced me to yet another “good thing.”
Dove Chocolate Discoveries products were featured on her show (December 16, check out the show at her web site http://www.marthastewart.com/) Martha made mini chocolate mousse dessert cups using of course, Dove Chocolate Discoveries. The audience (including me) were given samples of the Dove Chocolate Discoveries chocolate mousse and mini chocolate dessert cups as a take home gift. When I returned home, I made my own on Christmas day and again on New Years day. They were delicious, easy and fast to make, and looked oh so wonderful!
The products are only available through Dove Chocolate Discoveries Chocolatiers who do in home chocolate tastings. After using and eating the products I needed to have access to Dove Chocolate Discoveries products so, I signed up to become a Chocolatier and do home Chocolate Tastings.
2010 is looking like another year with FOOD still foremost on my mind.
My favorite food places I visited in NY City;
Keste’, 271 Bleecker St., Greenwich Village
wood fired pizza with a light tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, slices of prosciutto , arugula and shaved Parmesan cheese
Murray’s Cheese, 254 Bleecker St., Greenwich Village
a cheese emporium with extras like salami, salads and so much more
Casellula, 401 West 52nd St., Midtown
cheese and wine cafe, we had some amazing cheese pairings. Pecorino with pesto and Gorgonzola with pickled green beans
MarieBelle, 484 Broome St, Soho
a chocolate shop/cafe with so much atmosphere, it reminded me of the movie “Chocolat.” (I watched it again when I got home, one of my favorite movies)
Morrell & Co., Rockefeller Plaza, at 49th St. Midtown West
a wine cafe and shop. we had a glass of champagne sitting in the sidewalk cafe across the street from Rockefeller Plaza
Mia Dona, 206 E 58th st., Midtown
we had a roasted octopus salad with frisee, arugula, fennel and orange wedges and a ravioli with Brussel Sprouts as an entree, every bite was savored
