In the spirit of what I started back in August, once again I will celebrate the arrival of FRIDAY (trust me I have not missed celebrating Fridays even though I have not blogged about them recently) with a wine pick and nibbles. Actually, this evening I am headed to a holiday neighborhood gathering and need to bring an appetizer and my own beverage (WINE).
Taking influence from my recent trip to Spain, I have decided to bring a few of my favorite Spanish food bites I savored while there. In Madrid, almost every meal (even breakfast) started with Spanish cheese and ham. The food products are quite simple and straight forward; triangle shapes of local cheese with thin slices of local ham, but the quality…top notch! Of course, these delicious local products were always enjoyed with Spanish wine. (except at breakfast, of course).
Today the fun part shopping for my cheese, ham and wine. My selections; Spanish Serrano ham (not as salty as the prosciutto I have had lately), Manchego cheese and my wine pick, or should I say wine find, 2008 Can Blau Montsant Rhone Blend Mazuelo 40%, Syrah 40%, Garnacha 20%. Oh, and a few Marcona Almonds. So celebrate Friday and the weekend ahead of holiday merriment, Salud!
