Spring has arrived in Atlanta. Actually I think we went right to summer, the current outside temperature is 82 F and no one is complaining – the humidity has not arrived ~ yet. With Spring, thoughts of outdoor dining come to mind and today is the perfect evening for dinner on the deck.
My “foodie radar” scoped out two new finds this week. First, a new cookbook, “The Winemaker Cooks” by Christine Hanna. Hanna is president of Hanna Winery and lives in Sonoma County, near where I once lived. Reading through this book had me yearning for Sonoma and the wine county life style – lots of outdoor dining. The Steelhead Trout is straight from the “Spring” section of the cookbook along with the accompanying Mint Peas. Unfortunately, I was not able to track down a Hanna Chardonnay to pair with the trout, but that brings me to my second find of the week. A 2009 Four Vines Naked Chardonnay. I have never been a huge fan of Chardonnay, so often they are too big and oaky for my food. But I recently read about a new trend in Chardonnay, stainless steel fermentation – NO OAK, more of the true chardonnay varietal flavors come through.
My wine for celebrating the arrival of spring a Four Vines Naked Chardonnay ~ Cheers to Spring!
